Early Life in Arizona
I was born and raised in Arizona and have never lived elsewhere. My upbringing was primarily shaped by my dad and my grandparents. While I had a somewhat sheltered upbringing, my experiences were anything but typical.
Unique Childhood Experiences
Unlike many kids my age, I didn’t engage in activities like sneaking out or early dating. Instead, I embarked on adventures that were unique for my age. i spent more time with my parents and their friends than with peers, gaining a broader perspective on life.
Family Influence
My grandparents, who both served in fire and police services, were very protective. This protective nature was evident in their rules, like not allowing me to go to the mailbox without a walkie-talkie (before I got a cell phone). My dad encouraged me to be a tomboy, while my grandmother, originally from New Jersey, taught me the importance of always looking my best.
Relationship Dynamics
My relationship with my grandmother was rocky during my childhood. She was often critical, which affected me deeply, though I believe she didn’t realize the impact of her words. Over time, we grew closer, and her recent passing has been a significant loss for me.
My parents divorced when I was young, with my dad having full custody. I saw my mom every other weekend and holiday. While our relationship wasn’t close during my childhood, it has improved as I’ve grown older. My dad has always been my best friend, and I am very much a daddy’s girl.
Coping with Anxiety and Depression
At thirteen, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression, leading to frequent panic attacks and emotional breakdowns. I tend to push down my issues until they overflow, causing breakdowns. I’m currently in therapy, working on managing these challenges.
Dealing with Loss and Empathy
In addition to emotional trauma from family dynamics, I’ve faced the recurring pain of losing many pets over the years. This has been a significant source of hurt. As a highly empathetic person, I often take on other people’s emotions and issues, sometimes neglecting my own.
Personal Growth and Resilience
Despite the challenges, I’ve learned to navigate through life with resilience. My journey has shaped who I am today, and I continue to work on my mental health and personal growth. My experiences have made me empathetic and strong, qualities I bring into my work and relationships.
Current Life and Future Goals
Currently, I work two full-time jobs and am a full-time student pursuing my bachelor’s degree in psychology. My goal is to continue my education all the way to earning a doctorate. I live with my partner and our four dogs, embracing the love and chaos they bring into our lives.
I still struggle with numerous issues every day, which gives me a unique perspective on things. I’m an overthinker and outgoing most of the time. I have been sober for seven years and am proud of this achievement. I am an open book and want everyone to feel comfortable coming to me for anything or asking me anything.
Achievements and Milestones
I am the first in my family since my grandparents to graduate high school and go to college. I am proud to maintain a 4.0 GPA and have recently started honors classes. I am also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
Hobbies and Interests
In my spare time, I enjoy photography and going on adventures. I have a deep love for animals of all kinds. Reading and writing are passions of mine, and I love spending time outdoors, with the forest being my favorite environment. I also enjoy crafts and DIY projects. I’m a huge Disney adult, and I love tattoos and piercings. Coloring is one of my favorite ways to relax as well as listening to music or going on a nice drive. I am also highly spiritual, not in a religious way, and believe in supernatural things. And I am a huge true crime junkie. I ride dirt bikes and quads, and love going off roading and four-wheeling.
Inspirations and Motivations
My plan is to have my own practice and specialize in working with first responders. With my grandmother in the police department, my grandfather in the fire department, my other grandfather in the police department, and other family members being EMT’s, this cause holds a special place in my heart. Additionally, having worked with the fire department for years, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges they face and the lack of resources available to them. This drives my passion to provide the support they need.
Community Involvement and Future Aspirations
I believe in giving back to the community and am involved in working with events with the fire department to volunteer. I have also volunteered on numerous occasions with animal rescues. Helping others brings me a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
Beyond my academic and career goals, I aspire to one day have a home in the forest with a lot of land. I want to rescue animals and rehabilitate them there. They will have all the care and love they could ever need. I would also like to train as many of them that qualify to be therapy animals. Being able to come into sessions with me or even be able to go visit hospitals and such to bring smiles to peoples faces that really need it. I dream of one day becoming a mom and raising them the way I wish I was. These aspirations keep me motivated and focused on the future.
